It's one of the things that ruffles my feathers around here with the used car dealers saying they'll give you a lifetime warranty, and in the small print, with scheduled maintenance with the dealer's service department.

When you change out components of the engine, and the engine blows up, and it can be attributed to the components you installed, be prepared for a warranty claim.
Think of it this way - if you install a turbo with 32psi of boost, and it melts holes through the pistons - do you think they'll cover it? No...
Say the exhaust flows better, resulting in more HP/Torque. Your differential blows....should that be covered? No.
You replace the air filter with a Fram filter, and the starter stops working. Should it be covered - yes....
