Can someone explain to me why Nismo is not the same thing as Nissan Motorsports? Because I've always been under the impression that they are one and the same, and that Nismo is an abbrviated form of
Nissan
Motorsports.
In fact, I did a little Googling on this, and the Wikipedia entry on Nismo supports my understanding.
Nismo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
Nismo (abbreviated from Nissan Motorsport International Limited (ニッサン・モータースポーツ・インターナショナル株式会社, Nissan Mōtā Supōtsu Intānashonaru Kabushiki-gaisha?)) is the motorsports and performance division of Nissan Motor Company. Formed in 1984 as a result of a merger of two motorsport departments, Nismo cars have participated in JSPC, Formula Nippon, JTCC, 24 Hours of Le Mans and 24 Hours of Daytona. They currently participate in the Super GT.

But more importantly, the official Nismo website actually has Nissan Motorsports in its title as well.
NISMO | NISSAN MOTORSPORTS INTERNATIONAL OFFICIAL SITE Indeed, if you go to the very bottom of the official Nismo site's homepage, it says: "Copyright 2009 © NISSAN MOTORSPORTS INTERNATIONAL CO.,LTD."
I keep seeing people say that it's a Nissan Motorsports oil cooler that's coming out, not a Nismo one, in the bazillion oil cooler threads we've got going on here, and it's driving me nuts.
So am I wrong? Are they not the same thing? Because it sure looks that way. Someone please enlighten me.
