I think the reason people are putting so much focus on weight now is because the green movement is, again, shutting down power increases so we must turn again to cutting weight. The difference this time though is Nissan is already ahead of the game with a good weight high power car ahead of the curve.

Can they cut some weight? Sure, but then you have to go all the way back to the beginning of the design to re-balance this car. Which is one of the major factors it is so great, its weight is a non-factor once you drive, track, etc.
