Statistically I think the Jiffy lubes of the world have a better track record than dealers. Dealership mechanics are usually trying to do 3 jobs at a time and because of the bouncing around they forget things.

Actually turn the engine OFF first, then stop. Clutch in (automatic select N), engine off and coast to a safe spot. Once you see that oil light you literally have seconds to save the engine from damage.
