I would not recommend ignoring the auto transmission. Many manufacturers have the "maintenance free" transmissions for a few years now, and you will see more harm than good from observing the "maintenance free" guide. I have seen plenty of transmission failures over the years, and most were transmissions that were not serviced properly. On top of that you're in sports cars, sure the regular grind and stop and go traffic sucks, but most of you probably drive like Z owners from time to time (if not all the time). Driving more sporting or in manual mode will obviously cause more wear.

If you plan on keeping your Z for years and years, I would certainly recommend servicing your transmission. I am sure the added maintenance cost will be a small price to pay for the extended service life of your Z's transmission.

Before I get blasted, I am aware of the manual and what it says. I love nissan, but I am also aware that they are in the business of selling cars. A transmission failure on a high mileage car is another reason to get a new car. I'm not saying they build it for failure, but no maintenance, c'mon. I'm sure most of them will make it out of warranty.

Anyone check the price on a 7AT lately?
