The OTD price is always misleading when comparing across states, finance rates offered by dealer, etc. In California for example we pay nearly 10% sales tax and licensing fees are very expensive as well. Id also argue that anyone with finance rates over 5.75% are funding the dealers as they make money on financing as well. Dealers offering anything over 6% can be making thousands of dollars more than sales price. Also if a trade is involved what was it sold for? Dealers will sell below invoice all day if you give away a good trade in far below wholesale value. Then there is all the BS dealers try to sell you like extended warranties, paint protection etc.

Id like to see details missing on much of the numbers OTD offered on forums when people quote prices. The sales price of the car rarely represents true cost unless you walk in with cash and no trade.
