There is no absolutely correct polarity, only relatively correct polarity. That is to say it doesn't matter at all if you get it wrong, as long as you get it wrong everywhere
. I say this with the exception of subs, where it is common to mess around with phasing to get them hitting perfectly in time with the rest of the track.
