I've read that front spoilers play a big part in both stabilizing the vehicle (reducing front lift) and reducing aerodynamic drag. The chin spoiler along with the plastic panels under the car reduce the coeficient of friction for the car as well as reduce front lift at speed. They also get in the way on steep driveways. Get a little, give a little.
