I agree, your friends sound like they are jealous. I mean who wouldn't want a 370Z at your age?! I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to own one if they could. But besides that, they are right about the practicality aspect. If your are an active person who bikes, rafts, outdoorsey stuff like that, then you'll be stuck at a cross road. I'm pretty active myself, but I have plenty of friends who are willing to drive and haul my gear around, so that's something to think about. If you have your own family, then it's probably out of the question. But from what I can tell, the Z is definitely a car you can live with. I had a 350 around your age and I never ran into any issues. I love having 2 seats, I never had to pickup or drop anyone after partying all night. And when I go out with my co-workers to lunch, I never drive =). So there are a lot of ups to only having 2 seats.
I'm sorry to hear about your mom...but from what others have reported on this forums. The auto works very well, so I wouldn't completely disregard that option. But I also opted for a manual, so I know where you are coming from.
Good luck man.
