there are many reasons the sprint boosters seem to work well, most of those reasons are stuff people don't think about really, first off there is the placebo effect just putting the thing in will make you think it is improved, then there is human lag time, between you thinking about putting the pedal down and your foot actually doing it there is over a half second of lag in your own brain, also most people don't just slam the pedal down, so there is lag there. people with better reflexes, a stronger ankle, and a better feel for modulating a gas pedal will have less lag.

The only real reason to buy a sprint booster is if you desire a shorter gas pedal travel, because that's all it does, it shortens the pedal up electronically. pushing the pedal down 75% with the sprint booster on is the same as full throttle, the last 25% of the pedal stroke means nothing so all it does is shorten the time it takes you to actually push the pedal in all the way. Some of these pedal tuners actually increase the throttle percentage while depressing the pedal but once you stop pushing it in farther will ramp back down to the real percentage so say you push the pedal from 25% to 80% it will tell the car you pushed it in 100% while your foot is moving and then drop back down to 80% once your foot reaches it.

To actually increase the cars responsiveness(instead of your foots) you need to do things like tuning the acceleration enrichment, the ETB logic, the spark maps, the rotating inertia, the torque band, and things of that nature all of which cost a hell of a lot more than $300.
