Technically you don't need the backing plate, but the center of the valance is pretty flimsy without it. But yes, that is the only part of the olddummy light that gets re-installed.

I know the light is 12v, but don't know what range it can handle. I'd PM Jay over at EVO-R (check the vendor area, or the Exterior/Interior thread for one of his posts). If you get an answer, post it here
