They are and they arent. Putting Eibachs on factory fresh shocks is fine for awhile. The problem is, as they lose their damping they can no longer control the springing when it enters the stiffer area. YOu've seen Ricer Honda's bouncing down the road? To stiff a spring mounted over worn out struts.
A stiff spring will wear out a stock shock ( optimum damping control) sooner than factory springing. You have a little cushion with the Eibachs in that the'yre progressive and a bit closer to stock through the initial travel. The ideal situation is to pair a stiffer shock with the ability to handle a stiffer spring. . Pay now or pay later....
