Just from Googling the different wheels issue and this came back:
At low enough speeds, a short distance would be okay. The problem is
that the differential gears aren't generally designed to rotate
continuously and will generate heat when they are. A little bit of
rotation here and there will be handled fine by the oil, but more
continuous rotation will generate heat beyond the ability of the oil
to dissipate, leading to oil breakdown, lubrication failure and
ultimately unlubricated metal-to-metal rubbing.
