From a driving standpoint, excellent. I need to get used to the car. The front end steering is a bit different than my previous car (Lexus IS300). To me, the 370Z almost feels like a front wheel drive car when making slow turns like in a parking lot. I need to learn to trust the mirrors more (you guys know what I am talking about), and I really want to jam on the awesome stereo but I am driving with the stereo off most of the time so I can get a good "noise baseline" for later down the road when I ask myself "I wonder if the car used to make that sound" - Am I too anal (don't answer that!)
The biggest (pleasant) surprise for me was the improvements in "steptronic" transmissions. On my IS300 with 8 year old technology, the "manual" mode was very jerky. I have the AT in the 370Z and this weekend I played with the "manual" mode. This was sheer joy. I would say dead on responsive (as opposed to my IS300) and frankly better than I have the skills to shift a real manual. But the best part was the downshifting part. The AT does this thing where if will "rev" the engine if your current speed and rpms are not right for the downshift. My IS300 would just jerk forward and give you reverse whiplash!! Funny, NIssan made a big deal over the manual transmission, but they never said a word about the AT. Maybe this is old news, but again, my comparison is 8 year old Lexus technology.
I only have 350 miles and I can not wait till I get this car broken in so I can drive it a bit harder - please no comments, I have read all the threads on break-in.
