With that said this is an example of the government forcing us to do something because they think it is best for us. The only person that can be harmed by me not buckling up is me. Unless of course you have no health insurance and you survive the accident with permanent physical or mental disabilites. In that case it is the taxpayer that has to pay for your choice. Why should I have to pay for your $100k a year health costs for the next 30 years simply because you didn't buckle up?
Now I don't necessarily agree with mandated seat belt use, but I can understand the financial logic behind it. It should be a choice really. If you want to ride without a helmet or seatbelt that's fine, but you should automatically be a DNR and a whole body donor.
