It's very unlikely anything will actually happen. There's too much risk for escalation.
If the North didn't have nuclear capability (the current estimate is what... 10 warheads?) and wasn't backed by China you would have likely seen a fairly swift response to the sinking of the South's corvette from a few months ago and especially this shelling.
This is merely saber rattling by the North. They know that the South won't do anything in response so they feel free to wave their big stick whenever they feel like the time is right.
What annoys me is that we are still sending food aid to the North. We need to cut that off.
With any luck the Chinese will be able to talk some sense into the North. They generally support the North but have been rightfully embarrassed by recent actions.
We shall see, though. It seems as of late the North does something silly once every few months.
