Regarding combining 1 and 2, others have done this but I don't recommend it for the following reason. When you bypass the speed sensor the navigation system is not as reliable and the location can freeze because the Nav system has no speed reading.

In practical terms this is how it is used (at least for me)
  • When my daughter wants to watch a DVD I have the DVD bypass on for hours at a time and there are no side effects.
  • On rare occasions when we want to do something like add a way point or enter a number. We can activate the Nav-bypass, enter what is needed and de-activate the Nav-bypass. In this case there is very limited effect on the navigation.
