My family has been using Royal Purple lubricants in marine racing applications since the 1980s. It is hardly a hype. It is excellent oil. You're basing your knowledge on a bunch of experts from BP Lubricants and RP doing biased, unscientific tests on eachothers' products.
Do you even know the difference between regular and synthetic oil?
