Whether or not to clay is determined by one thing: the baggie test. If it fails the test, you clay. If it doesn't, then claying is not necessary. If there is no need to clay, then you go straight to polishing. The damage in the in the paint will determine what polish you will use.
It is the polishing that makes paint shine, not wax or any quick detailers. My car without a drop of wax on it proves that point:
Polishing is what will bring the pop back to your paint. At that point, you can use your sealant to protect that pop. That's what wax does. It protects the shine you get from polishing.
