This has produced the best results for me. I come from AWD cars where wheel spin is not really an option (unless highly modded). Slip the clutch and not the tires and with a little practice at a 4500rpm launch you can get 1.9 60's on street tires.
I don't recommend the speed shifting above and just have to mention that launching this way will take a toll on your clutch after repeated launches...I run at an 1/8th mile track and turn an 8.71 with a 1.96 60'. Pretty sure a new clutch is in my future after about 25 runs total over the past year.
