Maybe Italy will finally pull its head from its archaic as time goes by. It's a gorgeous country, but I've noticed what you've said about laws & a general sense of... gruffness... to the country & its people.

I'm a huge soccer (calcio, lol) fan. One thing I notice is that a country's national team often reflects the mentality of its people. The Italians were often a very negative team (catenaccio?), preferring to score once & hold the ball in the midfield for the rest of the match or even believing it was better to draw than concede a goal. Over the last eight years or so, there's been an influx of new players to their team which have brought a much more attacking mentality to the side. Perhaps this is an early sign of the country's loosening?

Anyway, I apologize for the dissertation. Welcome to the site.
