I finished installing and wiring the rear fog as a brake light. It took longer than I expected.
My suggestions:
-Start by following the step by step instructions posted by Simota1 DIY: of complete FOG LAMP install don't use the wiring suggestions
-Jack up the rear to get headroom underneath
-The plastic fastener directly under the light is larger than the others - keep it separate
-after installing the new light, plug the wire plug on the car into the new light plug
-You cannot remove the rear interior trunk panel unless you pull up all the rubber molding on the trunk rear - it goes back easily
-The light orange and black wires from the fog light plug come out in the trunk to the right of center as you look down together with about 7 other wires - all black go to ground - leave those as is
-splice a piece of #20 wire to the light orange( I didn't cut it for fear of some functionality for this wire)
-Important!! Simota1 says when removing the taillight move it forward, not up. This is backward! The light slides straight BACK on the car to remove. Don't forget to remove the interior nut.(Push forward to re-install the light)
- remove the taillight wire plug, remove the tape, find the light green wire, and splice your hookup wire to it without cutting it
-route your hookup wire behind the rear trunk wall and out the rubber grommet where the wire from the fog light plug emerges in the trunk
-when removing the wire shielding be careful - Nissan used some extremely light wire for these lights. I used a razor knife fearing a wire stripper might cut the wire
-I soldered my connections

Good luck. Send a message to me if you have questions
