The sticker price was $4,300.00 and you could not get factory air conditioning...that was the only extra available....and it cost $499.00 extra......I got the air conditioning...a dealer add on But remember.......that was a lot more money then than $40,000.00 is now.
It was a great "Top End" car....but was so slow of the line and so cheap inside the cabin that my friends made fun of it. I had just sold a 1967 ( 427 4 Speed ) because I was going to graduate school, and most of my friends had GTOs and Vettes. While in graduate school in Atlanta, I was fortunate to find the BRE Racing Datsun dealership North of Atlanta and have them modify my car, they were just getting started on what turned out to be a very long and successful career in racing. Of course Nissan was then called "DATSUN" and no one had every seen a Z car before. I cut the "DATSUN" emblems in half..and mounted them backward.....making them read "SUNDAT" nobody knew what the hell a Z car was then anway ! lol
