i rode in a Z34 at Z Nationals this year that has had it's redline raised to 8100 rpm via an Uprev tune and they said this had not given them any problems at all. the purpose was because the guy autox's his car a lot and wanted to be able to stay in 2nd gear all the time. the guys at uprev know nissans like the back of their hands. me personally? i'd probably leave it at 7500 but that's just me.

edit: for the record it sounded fine up above 7500rpm, not thrashy or like it was coming apart. it just kept right on chugging. car had exhaust on it so it really sang up there at the top end. also, for the record, it had stillen gen 3 intakes and hi flow cats with full cat back exhaust so that probably eased the breathing with that many revs. if you have all stock intake and exhaust, it may be a tad restrictive for 8k rpm, just food for thought
