It's not about being loud. I have never listened to ARK in person so I can't comment. But I can tell you HKS has a really quiet tone when you're on the highway. I just drove 4 hours on the highway and I'm VERY sensitive about highway drone. HKS almost has no noise on the highway. Thanks to the JASMA* certification and those tuned canisters. HOWEVER, the moment you start downshifting the car just comes back to life! It starts to get exotic and really loud (in a nice way). On highway downshifting from 6th to 4th, you'll wet your pants!
I am very happy with the purchase. It gives me best of both world - the look and the sound!

JASMA stands for Japan Automotive Sports Muffler Association. They set rules and regulations on exhausts. All it means is that your exhaust is made in Japan and meets their 98 dba requirements for sound level. It's Japan's equivelant of CARB.
