285 on an 11" rim?

To bounce back over to this thread, I was looking at (now) 275/35R18 on 10" fronts and 315/30R18 on 11" rear, they're nearly identical in revs per mile. The 285's I saw (on the PS2's I'm looking at) are specced for 9.5-10.5 rims, 10 being the norm. Just seemed odd to me, I'm curious about the rationale behind 285 on the 11 rear.
