They are just sticky as ****. My guess is if you run over a nail you have a good chance of picking it up (like I did) and giving it more of a chance to dig into the tire whereas the less sticky A/S tires probably reduce that effect (if the nail doesn't puncture the tire right away it probably has a better shot of kicking the nail away vs. a sticky tire).

Plus we're running a 255 vs. the 235 or 245s on some of the other cars, so we're increasing our chances of picking up a nail just because we've got a slightly larger contact patch.

Mainly I think it's just the construction in my area. I never had an issue with nails with my first three cars, then I had a puncture in the Z and an almost-puncture with the 5.0. I punctured the Z's left rear tire maybe 2 months ago or so.
