Everyone,
It is indeed an OIL COOLER. That setup is exactly what comes factory on the old 350z/G35 VQ35DE engines. It uses engine coolant to cool the engines oil. As many of you know, engine oil can get much hotter than the coolant. This is something Nissan has apparently carried over from the VQ35DE engines for other countries.

I am shocked that Nissan did not keep this sub system to begin with.
