Wax does not make paint shine, polishing paint is what makes it shine. Carnuba paste waxes can add depth to the shine you achieve from polishing but it isn't going to make the paint any shinier. If you apply wax to your paint and the wax creates a shine, then the only thing that you have done is scrubbed off the haze and dirt that was on the paint to begin with (which creates swirls and scratches when done this way). That is the job of a polish. To remove the junk that is on top of your paint so that the shine can be seen.

Wax is a protectant. It protects the shine you get from polishing. Carnuba waxes add depth to your shine but they do not make the paint shinier.
