Default Removing the shift knob

Just as the thread title says. Hey fellow members, I was attempting to remove the center console today, and this was the 1st time I've ever worked on a Nissan, its quite the jigg-saw puzzle. lol.

How do you go about removing the manual shift knob? I would think it would just be twisting it counterclockwise to remove it, which I tried, and it didnt work. So please someone help me out here. Thank you kindly.
