Default No tags..what are my options

Purchased a car in another state...the dealership insisted (forced citing it was a requirement for their dealership) they take care of the tags and such.

I was given a 2-week temporary pass. Two weeks ended 10 days ago. I've been calling on and off.

1.) They first told me their dmv (this is in NJ btw) is backed up in paperwork so they mailed me an extension letter. It didn't make sense to me either as to why they didn't just send me another extension tag. But he told me to "keep driving."

2.) Called a couple days later as nothing arrived. They tell me they have been calling me to inform me about paperwork problems (so the manager lied the first time and they are lying now as I have received no calls by these guys). Two people were involved in the purchase of this car. I contacted them to set up an appointment. They said my name somehow ended up on the paperwork and that I would need to send them an insurance card with my name on it. I never signed or wrote anything there and the second person with me never used my name. I told them to show me the paperwork with my name on it. He told me to call back in 10minutes while he pulled it out.

3.) I called back in 15minutes and the manager tells me he is calling the DMV as we speak to ask them to push the paperwork forward without the insurance card. It is obvious by this time they pulled a third lie out of their *** since the "paperwork issue" was quickly resolved. He told me to call back later to check the status.

4.) Called about 40minutes later and the manager was out. The nice operator said they spoke to the DMV and were going to sort this mess out. She asked me if I needed extension tags. I was finally thinking this lame ordeal was behind me as calling these guys is a pain in the ***. I have to go through the operator each time and 25% of the time no one picks up when the operator directs me to who I want to talk to. Anyway, she informs me that offices are closed by they will fax me extension tags tomorrow and takes my fax number.

5.) The next day has arrived and no fax. I called at 3pm to inquire. The manager tells me he is going to personally handle it and fax it to me within 10minutes. Called an HOUR LATER because still no fax. The manager is out. The operator takes my information and says she will either see if the manager is in or get a sales person to contact me. It has been 30minutes and it is almost time for me to go to work in my car with no valid tags.

Any idea what I should do next. Obviously this dealership is very incompetent and I don't expect them to resolve anything for me. I'm thinking it is time to involve outside agencies. I'm worried they lied about taking care of the issues concerning the real tag. I read a post about someone contacting Nissan headquarters at which point they resolved the issue at their local dealer.
