Exhaust preference is so subjective (echoing other comment made here). Personally, I'm glad there are so many options for exactly that reason.

I've altered the exhaust on many of the cars I've owned, from aftermarket systems to custom systems (which tend to be cheaper but the gains are unproven). Some of the best sound can be achieved through removal of stock parts (resonators, cats, mufflers), but there is a bit of cross-your-fingers-and-hope-it-sounds-good factor involved. And, there is always the possibility of losing torque, HP, or both with this approach.

I took a somewhat backwards approach, in that I chose and exhaust (FI) before I bought my Z. The whole package is what was important to me. And how an exhaust sounds inside the cabin is far more important to me than the aural experience of pedestrians and fellow commuters. I want to turn off the radio in favor of the sound of the car.

Frankly, I've yet to hear a bad aftermarket exhaust for the Z. That is probably part of the problem. They all sound great and offer gains of one type or another.

My point: get what you want. Who cares who else likes it/has it.
