Everyone always said the same thing with Honda's. People wanted chipped ECU's with a lower/higher VTEC engagement RPM, but they usually lost power. They would lose so much midrange that when VTEC engaged, it gave the feeling of gains but actually it was the opposite.
IMO it's really only beneficial to boosted setups where people would like to gain spool by retarding exhaust some and advancing intake as well.
