You don't have to cut the front studs. I also noticed that the stud does press into the wheel. But only a small part of the stud touches the wheel so the wheel easily compresses around the bolt. The wheel and spacer will sit flush. As I said before my steering wheel won't move at all at 70 mph when I drive on a smooth highway.
