Well I was driving by Erickson today and saw the red base 370 auto sitting outside. What the H ...... lets test drive this thing
A few important points came out of this test drive.
1.) The sales staff and sales manager are complete idiots to the products they are trying to sell and everything is disarray with the renovations in progress. The sales manager just about wilted when I suggested 3% above invoice as my offer. He needs to work on his body language and facial expressions before he responds next time.
That look alone was worth the time I spent there.
2.) It was hinted that Nissan Canada won't be taking anymore new factory orders. Not sure if it was a ploy to make me buy the 370Z I just test drove or if it's really a fact. I suspect that Nissan Canada is no longer accepting any more factory orders.
3.) The automatic is fun to test drive but it lacking in good performance I expect from a Z. I suspect it was the 3.3 gearing. My 350Z has 3.5 gears and it is a lot faster and has WAY more torque then this one.
4.) The rev match function is nice and extremely functional and smooth
5.)
Oil temperatures are going to be a issue, even up here in northern Alberta. The temperature of the oil averaged between 110C to 115C, ambient air temp 19C (230 - 239F Ambient 66F, for our southern cousins) It wasn't a hard test drive by any means and I kept the RPM's below 5000. I did keep the RPM's up there, as I never shifted beyond 4'th and performed a few semi-spirited acceleration runs. Enough to say, that
we will need a oil cooler, in Alberta. For comparison, my diesel Duramax towing a moderate load (6000 lbs) has lower oil temps than the 370Z.
6.) Bottom line: STAY AWAY FROM ERICKSON .... they take more money from you, than you need to spend.
