I used to be pretty big into scale model building. I still have all of my supplies and a few unfinished kits in my basement.

In the last year or so of my time in the hobby I really got into scratch building to enhance realism. Anything from wiring to genuine leather upholstery (hard as **** to do on a 1/24 scale!).

I actually have been thinking about getting back into it because it's pretty calming when you've got a couple hours of free time.

The thing I don't like about that model kit you did is it's a curbside kit... I hate those ones! My favorite part of model building is assembling the chassis and engine!!!
