You may not be aware of it, but at Easter this year, Mercedes Benz had a journo and favoured customer drive day at Bathurst, with the featured cars being the CLK and SLK63.

There were half a dozen cars used.

Each car was run in on the OEM 18 and 19" tyres (Pirelli P-Zero) for 800 kms and then the cars were fitted with fresh Continental CS3 "r-spec" tyres for each of the 3 days that the circuit was used for drive-days. The track-spec tyres have all done less than 30 laps each and the jounro's could not have been pushing very hard because the ones I have seen are hardly worn (and certainly not worn on the shoulders like you would expect).

The Pirelli sizes are:
19" Fronts 255/35 R 19
19" Rears 285/30 R 19

18" Fronts 235/40 R 18
18" Rears 255/35 R 18

These tyres are priced at $1500 per set and have only been used for running the vehicles in (800 kms only) - effectively bedding gearboxes and differentials.

These tyres are now available through Essendon Tyrepower (contact Ricky or Russell on 03 93792616). I am assuming that interstate parcel freight at $10-15 per tyre can be arranged (that is what I pay when I have race tyres shipped interstate).

Prices for the Continental CS3 are by negotiation - there are several size options - call Ricky or Russell for details.
