It would be interesting to see if they would refuse to honor warranty work based on following schedule 2. Every three months is a waste if you're not even hitting 3k in that period.

I didn't even get into that with her. Since the manual says, "Generally, Schedule 2 applies only to highway driving in temperate conditions" there would have been little point in me bringing it up. About 10% of my driving is on the highway and I can't argue that it's temperate here in Phoenix. My previous car was a Mazda Speed3 and perhaps all the horror stories of Mazda denying warranty claims have made me paranoid, but I'd rather have 3 or 4 extra oil changes than to take a chance on how things would turn out if I end up with a serious problem during the warranty period.
