The car was discontinued for slow sales. Sales were slow because GM didn't redesign the car in 10 years. I think there was some drama around what platform the next gen would ride on in the late 90's that pushed out the redesign so long that they decided to stop production.
So unless we see the exact some body style in 2019, I don't see the parallels.
