F.I. 2.5" X-Pipe + OEM Resonators + OEM Muffler = ?
So, thanks to Kastley, I have an exhaust setup on the way to my door. I wanted to keep a factory exhaust note (louder is fine, just same tone) but get some of the HP gains from the exhaust. HFC are a maybe down the road but for now I wanted to muhrduhr that stupid 1.75" Y-pipe business up front.
Therefore, I am going with the Fast Intentions 304 Stainless X-Pipe setup, which goes from the OEM cats through the midpipes to near the OEM muffler inlets (about a foot short). Kastley had his OEM pipes to the muffler retrofitted to mate up to these midpipes without any resonators. After hearing a few G37's (whose exhaust appears very similar), the sound seems like its going to be all rasp without the resonators, so the OEM ones will be going on between the end of the X-pipe and the OEM curved pipes that bolt to the muffler.
I know the performance gains wont be completely as high as a full F.I. exhaust (rear pipes to the muffler are 2.25" instead of 2.5" so the Resonator inlets on one side will be expanded to slip with the 2.5" pipes, flanges are going away at that juncture), but I wanted to keep the OEM muffler and tips for stealthy factors. I dont think anyone else has ever done this setup either so a plus for unique-ness.
Comments welcome.
Sounds clips will go up once its on which will be Friday or Sat, parts arrive on Friday via UPS. Pic of the new pipes is attached as well as a borrowed pic of the OEM pipes (from Phelan's FI install pics) for comparison.
