good call on not letting them detail it. They would not have clayed the car, and would have grinded everything into the paint, so be happy about that. I would find a local professonal detailer and just have them do the car. The condition your paint is in right now, is worse than it will ever be. There are tiny shards of metal embedded in your paint, and you could certainly do it yourself, but for this big of a job, i'd just let a pro do it, and i am a big DIYer when it comes to detailing.
