RTV will hold well, just make sure the surface areas it will be applied to are very clean. You can use ISO to degrease the surfaces and then apply the RTV and your good to go. I use this regularly at work for many things and haven't had an issue with it not holding, and like stated if you remove it it leaves little to no residue on the surfaces.
