Regular silicone holds VERY well and can be removed leaving no evidence which can be an advantage. If you want a silicone that is essentially permanent, use 3M 5200 Marine sealant. Nothing can pull that stuff off...I use it all the time when building my MAF tubes.. Available in Black and white. Be advised though that full cure takes 7 days, though it is pretty firm after 3 depending on heat and humidity. They also make a fast cure version (white only)
