I was hoping the springs would wear some and minimize the gap, but I think that I will request the replacement(TSB) springs back and live with the problem until there is a final solution.

PS. Holding the button down does not help on my car.
I've had my springs replaced at the dealer, and this has caused a small squeek because the hatch doesn't sit down snug as it should. It has the gap you're talking about too.
