I have inherited two other guns but have never seen them as my dads (died) sister wont ship them out of fear of prosecution (argh! dont go there ). with that said, its cheaper for me to buy a new gun than fly to NC to pick them up and either ship them to my house or fly them back with me.

i dont think a 9mm will do me much good in a self defense scenario but who am i to say? as i stated ive never handled a gun before.

whats your input?

forgot to mention this will be the gun used for CCW, so do you think i should go with sub compact or just compact? how are you handling/concealing either? one easier than the other to conceal? ive been told (i work for LVMPD), that in a self defense scenario, you'd better be awfully close to the person so a long distance shot doesnt matter (hense the subcompact possibility).
I'm a big fan of the Smith and Wesson M&P series. It comes in 9mm, 40 and 357. I have two in 9mm and personally I think 9mm is more than adequate for a self defense firearm. I also carry a Ruger LCP in 380.
