I'm not going to slam you or anything like some of the others, but I will say that you should
always be ready for the possibility of needing to come to a complete stop (within reason) at any given time. You just never know what the hell some moron in front of or near you might do, so you have to be a defensive driver.
In the end though, don't worry about it too much. It sounds like no one was injured, and you have insurance. The car will be fixed up and will be as good as new again. Life is one big learning lesson, and hopefully you've taken something out of this incident (and it sounds like you have).
