As far as my install is concerned...
My install is different. My iPad securely rests within a commercial cradle specifically designed for the iPad, which is hard mounted to a Lexan plate which is directly mounted to the chassis of the car. The cubby has been completely removed and replaced by the Lexan plate. If an impact would dislodge that connection, I would have bigger problems than an iPad flying around.

Actually my set up is not loosely mounted. As I've said before, the phone clips have a locking mechanism and don't allow the ipad to move at all once locked in. Although the next set up I'm working on is gonna blow socks off. Stay tuned!
