A hard thing to get used to is the moment I cue up a radio and tell dispatch " XXX Command has been terminated, all units are clear of scene, returning to station"
everyone on that engines life goes back to normal and the incident will sooner or later be totally forgotten, while someone and their family, their lives will never be the same. Its just something that is played out everyday everywhere at just about every minute. Its sobering when you really kind of sit back and think about it.
