Funny I came across this thread doing a search on camaros on google. Lol. Well I rented the camaro again this weekend. I rented it about 7 weeks ago and wrote a review on here. I gotta say one thing. My G is starting to feel boring. Buyers remorse?? Don't know, but I find myself thinkin' more and more about the camaro.
You can sh1t talk the car all day long but if you haven't driven it?? All you are talkin is sh1t... basically. All the car articles will never give you the 1st hand feel of renting a car for 48 hours. I now have 600 miles and several hours of driving time behind the wheel of a 2010 chevy camaro 2ss a la avis rent a car.
The camaro is extremely fun to drive. It pulls and pulls and pulls. Its suspension set up is on par with my G. Its power is superior.
Its only flaw is its size. Its huge which makes aggressive handling a challenge. But if you're a real driver??? Would you not accept the challenge. The 2 SS remedies some of the V6 camaro's cheapness. Also the 1SS isn't the most favorable interior. But my rental had accent lighting, leather, sunroof and one tough a$$ V8. I was initially disappointed in the stray of the interior of the concept camaro materials. But when you realize how much you get in a camaro. You realize its a decent value.
Eibach multi pro r2 suspension will get this thing handling like a dream. Intake and tune alone put.05 seconds on the quarter. You gain 1.5 seconds on bolt ons alone. The Z can't say that. I'm not knocking the Z. I'm in love with the Z. I think the Z holds a place of its own.
But the camaro is truly special. It grows on you. I know most of you won't spend $416 on a weekend rental for a camaro. But I can say I don't regret paying what would be a monthly payment on my altima for a wkend in the camaro. Its really that good.
My G is way more luxurious, but I'm not into all that. The SS has the essentials. Back up warning, satellite radio, boston acoustics sound system that sounds better than the bose crap in a Z. I would like ththe boston to crank louder and provide more bass but its overall sound is truly high end, unlike the Z. I'm a sunroof man. Not available in the Z. The camaro has soooo much torque. It has a true sport mode. Where the Z reigns supreme is athletic handling and incredible tranny response. Also it feels small so it inspires more confidence.
The camaro is just a lifestyle choice as is the Z. Both great cars. Both purpose built. Both have a different purpose. I know you will be hard pressed to find a car as big as the camaro to handle like this. The mustang wins the comparo's out of bias. Just like nissan loses to BMW on straight bias. The last 2 years nissan has eclipsed bmw in performance and few will accept it.
Anyway. Sorry for that long post but I had to seperate myth from reality.
