From what I heard its not brand specific as much as case by case with the chatter. You can install the same clutch on the same model, year, etc car and some will chatter and others wont. The exedy is an awesome choice, those things feel like stock and last forever, but like you said, the price is pretty ridiculous. From what I heard from vendors, the Southbend stage 4 is pretty good as far as pedal effort. I don't want chatter either, but that's more of a flywheel issue than anything from what I understand. Jnaut from here has a fidanza fw installed and his car chatters a little bit, but nothing bad. I think if you have exhaust, you should be alright. The Southbend is also well under $1k w/ flywheel. Like you said though, its hard to say until you actually feel it. Best I can do for you is share what mine feels like to me.
